TCBAP RECERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Advanced Addiction Counselor (AAC): The AAC certification shall be issued for a period of two (2) years, therefore requiring an individual to recertify every two (2) years on that same date. The requirements for recertification shall be as follows:

Currently active in the field of alcoholism and drug abuse.

Absent of any ethical or malpractice violations.

Completion of forty (40) hours of continuing education, including three (3) hours of ethics and three (3) hours of clinical supervision.

Submission of an application including a signed copy of the ethical standards for Advanced Addiction Counselors.

The fee for recertification shall be $100.00.

Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC): The ADC certification shall be issued for a period of two (2) years, therefore requiring an individual to recertify every two (2) years on that same date. The requirements for recertification shall be as follows:

Certified Chemical Dependency Specialist (CCDS): The CCDS certification shall be issued for a period of two (2) years, therefore requiring an individual to recertify every two (2) years on that same date. The requirements for recertification shall be as follows:

Currently active and licensed in the field of alcoholism and drug abuse.

Absent of any ethical or malpractice violations.

Completion of forty (40) hours of continuing education.

Submission of an application including a signed copy of the ethical standards for Certified Chemical Dependency Specialists.

Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP): The re-certification requirement is 40 hours of continuing education that must be earned every two years in the Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional (CCJP) eight performance domains. Documentation of hours must be provided in the form of official transcripts or continuing education certificates from approved providers. The eight performance domains are listed below. The fee for recertification shall be $100.00.

Certified Compulsive Gambling Counselor (CCGC): The CCGC certification shall be issued for a period of two (2) years, therefore requiring an individual to recertify every two (2) years on that same date. The requirements for recertification shall be as follows:

Currently active in the field of addiction counseling.

Absent of any ethical or malpractice violations.

Completion of six (6) hours of continuing education related to gambling counseling.

Submission of an application including a signed copy of the ethical standards for Compulsive Gambling Counselors.

The fee for recertification shall be $100.00.

Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS): The CCS certification shall be issued for a period of two (2) years, therefore requiring an individual to recertify every two (2) years on that same date. The requirements for recertification shall be as follows:

Currently active as a supervisor in the field addiction counseling.

Currently certified as an ADC, AAC or CCJP.

Absent of any ethical or malpractice violations.

Completion of forty (40) hours of continuing education. Documentation of current ADC, AAC, or CCJP certification shall serve as verification of this requirement. However, six (6) of the forty (40) hours must be specific to clinical supervision. Certificates of completion must be attached to the recertification application to document this requirement.

Submission of an application, including a signed copy of the ethical standards for Clinical Supervisors.

The fee for recertification shall be $100.00.

Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS): The CPS certification shall be issued for a period of two (2) years. The requirements for recertification shall be as follows:

Submission of an application including a signed copy of the ethical standards for the CPS.

Absent of any ethical or malpractice violations in this or any other certifications or licensures.

Completion of forty (40) hours of continuing education. Documentation and/or certificates must be titled in areas of Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug (ATOD) prevention education or the five (5) prevention domain areas.

Recertification fee will be $100.00 every two (2) years.

Certified Supervisor Consultant (CSC): The CSC certification shall be issued for a period of two (2) years, therefore requiring an individual to recertify every two (2) years on that same date. The requirements for recertification shall be as follows:

Currently active as a supervisor in the field addiction counseling.

Absent of any ethical or malpractice violations.

Completion of forty (40) hours of continuing education. Documentation of current ADC or AAC certification shall serve as verification of this requirement.
